Create a wiki or a facebook page on an assigned dictator or related topic
You will work in small groups to research, collect information and assemble a wiki page on an assigned WWII era dictator and related topic.
Your task is to create a wiki on your topic. It should include biographical information where appropriate. Primary and Secondary sources, images (photographs, posters,etc) and at least one video segment. All of these sources should be put together on your page and organized using headings and when necessary subheadings. Your page, at the very least, should clearly show us the role your dictator/topic played in World War II. Be prepared to present your page to the class and answer questions.
Your project may cover the following:
history of your subject (what was he doing before he became a dictator?) (what was the political, economic or social background to your subject?)
If your subject is an ideology, who were the main proponents of it?
world events that formed your subject
if a person, your subject’s ideas/ideologies
the ideas/ideologies behind your topic
books your subject wrote
or famous authors on your subject
your subject's political/social goals
your subject's party/form of government.
define important vocabulary (i.e. fascism, Nazi, individualism, etc)
your subject's role in World War II
other things of note (importance) that your subject did or was responsible for
Some of these people/topics can reasonably be called many things: megalomaniacs, evil, etc, but they also fit into the world in a context. Make your page interesting but try to avoid psychoanalyzing and name calling dead people. We know Hitler was a bad guy but that does not explain much. Try and give us a clear portrait of your topic and fit it into the context of WWII.
Important!
Assemble your pages (text, pictures, embed codes and all else) on a word document to save everything, and have one member of your group upload and construct your page for homework when ready. If you try to all edit the wiki at once, it won’t work.
